What a connector is
One door, your whole stack behind it.
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the open standard Claude uses to call tools. An MCP server exposes a system's data as tools Claude can call with your permission; a connector is how Claude reaches one.
In Claude.ai and Claude Desktop a custom connector lives under Settings, then Connectors: you add a server by its URL and sign in. Claude Code can sign in to the same server with OAuth, discovered automatically, or use a pasted key. Most published servers cover a single product.
Switchboard is one hosted, scoped MCP server for the whole stack. Your admin decides, per person and per domain, what Claude may reach; you sign in with your MSPStuff account, and every platform your company connected sits behind that one connector.

- Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- Name it MSPStuff and paste the endpoint above.
- Approve the request — you sign in with your MSPStuff account — then switch MSPStuff on in a chat.
Claude Desktop
The Mac or Windows app, same account as Claude.ai.
- Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- Paste the endpoint above.
- Approve the request with your MSPStuff account, then enable it in the chat's tools menu.
Claude Code
Anthropic's terminal agent: one command, signs in with OAuth or uses a key.
- Create a key on your Connect your AI page — it is shown once, so copy it straight away.
- Run the connect command shown on your Connect your AI page in your terminal.
- Run claude mcp list. mspstuff should read as connected. If you add it without the key, Claude Code offers OAuth sign-in automatically on first use.

Only the platforms your company connected
A connector reaches what an admin connected — nothing else, and nothing you did not already have access to.
Only the data and the actions your role allows
Service, finance, sales, company, assets, projects, people and security. Each person's connector reaches only the data areas and actions their role allows. It never gets more than that person has in MSPStuff, and your admin can change it any time.
Your AI reads, it does not change
Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and other external AI clients read your platforms. In MSPStuff they can also run and create reports, when the person's role allows it. Any change a platform could make is held back, refused by our server before anything reaches the platform, until a person switches it on. Nothing is switched on today.

Your own server
Bring your own MCP server
On Dedicated, an owner or admin can connect an MCP server you run or subscribe to and approve exactly which tools Switchboard may use. Members need the connector's data-domain grant to use it; a connector without a data domain stays admin-only.
Your server is reached only through an MSPStuff-hosted gateway that lists the approved tools and nothing else — the brain never connects to it directly, and the credentials you give it stay in the vault.
Anything you bring is labelled as yours, not vetted by MSPStuff, and any tool you mark as able to change things is confirmed before it runs.

Does this work with Claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code?
Yes, all three. Claude.ai and Claude Desktop add Switchboard as a custom connector under Settings, then Connectors, and you sign in with your MSPStuff account. Claude Code can sign in with OAuth, discovered automatically, or use a pasted key. The same scopes apply whichever one you use.
What can Claude actually see?
Only the platforms your company connected, and only the data areas your role allows: service, finance, sales, company, assets, projects, people or security. Claude reads your platforms; it cannot change anything in them. In MSPStuff it can run and create reports if your role allows.
Do I need a separate connector for each platform?
No. Switchboard is one connector for the whole stack. Adding it once gives Claude every platform your company connected, instead of one custom connector per product.
How do I revoke Claude's access?
Your Connect your AI page lists every client that ever connected. Disconnecting one ends its access immediately, and your admin can change your scopes at any time.
Are Claude connectors safe?
A connector is as safe as what it can reach. The MSPStuff connector reaches only the platforms your company connected and the data areas your admin scoped for you. Claude reads your platforms and cannot change anything in them, and every answer is traced to the tool call behind it. Are Claude connectors just MCP servers?
Largely, yes. Claude's own documentation describes each connector as a connection to an MCP server, which the service runs so Claude can reach it. Switchboard is that server for your MSP stack: MSPStuff hosts and operates it, and one connector covers every platform your company connected.
